Although spring signifies new beginnings, it also marks the start of pollen season and for some of us this means: hay fever.

Normally, Western medicine prescribes antihistamines or decongestants but these medications are often associated with side effects like drowsiness and resistance suppression and won’t treat underlying causes.

From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine pollen isn’t necessarily the issue as we focus on why exactly your immune system responds in such a way.

We know that immune system has the habit of reacting excessively under pressure.

With a combination of the fatigue, illnesses, medications, overwork, etc, our immune system struggles and is usually to weak to fight off allergens.

With acupuncture for hay fever we can directly targets the site of the inflammation bit simultaneously we also want to strengthen the immune system, digestion, and your lungs.

Seasonal allergies and hay fever are triggered by imbalances or systemic deficiencies hence we need to identify them during a proper diagnosis and then address them accordingly with a tailored treatment plan.

Among many different acu points used in treatments these are the ones I use regularly to alleviate seasonal allergies:

Large Intestine 20, Stomach 2 and Bladder 2.

You can use your own fingers and apply firm pressure.

All three points are pressed twice, symmetrically on both sides of the face, equaling six points.

In most cases, stimulating the points yourself is not a substitute for real acupuncture. However, as a preventive measure, it can delay the onset and lessen the severity of allergy symptoms.
