Jan Murphy MRSS MTBCCT — Shiatsu and Acupuncture at Chelsea Natural Health Fulham Road London SW10

About Jan Murphy — Shiatsu, Acupuncture & Facial Acupuncture, Chelsea SW10

Jan Murphy is one of Chelsea Natural Health’s most versatile and experienced practitioners. A registered member of both the Shiatsu Society UK (MRSS) and the Thai Bodywork College of Complementary Therapy (MTBCCT), Jan also practises acupuncture and facial rejuvenation acupuncture, bringing an unusually broad range of skills to her clinical practice at Chelsea Natural Health.

Jan’s sessions are highly individualised. Where many practitioners specialise narrowly, Jan draws on her range of disciplines — Shiatsu bodywork, body acupuncture, facial and auricular acupuncture, cosmetic facial Shiatsu — to create treatment sessions specifically tailored to each patient’s constitutional type, presenting concerns and treatment goals. This integrative approach produces results that would not be achievable within any single modality alone.

Jan has particular specialist experience in pregnancy Shiatsu and postnatal care, having worked with many pregnant patients across all stages of pregnancy. She is also well known for her cosmetic facial work, combining facial acupuncture with Shiatsu for both aesthetic and therapeutic effect.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork therapy performed fully clothed on a floor futon or treatment table, using rhythmic thumb and palm pressure, stretching and passive joint rotation along the body’s meridian system. Unlike massage, Shiatsu works both physically and energetically — addressing the patterns of tension and depletion that underlie physical symptoms. Jan’s Shiatsu work covers musculoskeletal conditions, stress and emotional difficulties, hormonal imbalances, digestive complaints and pregnancy discomfort.

Acupuncture

Jan’s acupuncture practice follows Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, using pulse and tongue diagnosis to understand each patient’s individual constitution before selecting a personalised point prescription. She works with a wide range of physical and emotional presentations and frequently integrates auricular (ear) acupuncture — particularly effective for stress, addiction and emotional support — alongside body acupuncture. Compare also Dr Gavin Han’s TCM and acupuncture practice for fertility and pain specialisms.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture

Jan is Chelsea Natural Health’s specialist in facial rejuvenation acupuncture and cosmetic facial Shiatsu. Her facial treatments use ultra-fine needles and precise Shiatsu pressure on facial meridian points to stimulate collagen production, improve muscle tone and address the constitutional imbalances underlying premature skin ageing — all without downtime, anaesthetic or injectable substances. Each session combines a targeted facial treatment with a constitutional body treatment, making it both cosmetically and therapeutically effective.

Pregnancy and postnatal care

Jan has extensive specialist training in Shiatsu and acupuncture for pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period. Regular sessions during pregnancy support physical comfort, hormonal balance and emotional wellbeing throughout all trimesters. Specific techniques are used to support birth preparation in the final weeks. Postnatal Shiatsu helps with physical recovery, fatigue and the emotional adjustment of new parenthood.
