Acupressure Massage for muscle tension in Cheslea at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic, 208 Fulham Rd., SW10
If you spend your working day seated at a desk, being aware of your posture and dealing with minor problems with your back, arms and hands is very important, as this can prevent more serious problems developing long term. Acupressure massage works by applying pressure instead of needles on the energy points that can be found all along the meridians or energy lines of the body. Applying pressure on these points removes energy blockages by diffusing the toxic build up that accumulates in the muscle tissues. The accumulation of toxins causes stiffness throughout the body which puts abnormal pressure on nerves and blood and lymph vessels Benefits of Acupressure massage are: Alleviates muscular tension found in the neck and shoulders caused by long hours at the computer. Relief from Backache, Repetitive strain injury and Accumulated tension Stimulates endorphins, the body’s natural feel good chemicals. Helps to boost the immune and circulatory systems Helps to relieve stress and tension headaches and the effects of eye strain Book your treatment with Adriana on Saturdays from 11am to 6pm.

Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture.
Auricular acupuncture is one of the more widely used microsystems within eastern medicine. Microsystems use one aspect of the body – for example, the ears, hands or feet – to treat conditions that are present anywhere in the body. Auricular acupuncture may be used as a primary mode of treatment or in conjunction with other treatments such as acupuncture, shiatsu bodywork or herbal medicine.
Auricular acupuncture is useful for stress management, calming sciatica, back pain, post-traumatic stress, pain management, internal organ balance, mental and emotional balance, detoxification, addiction, weight loss/gain and many other health conditions, as well as general well-being.
Is it painful?
Not at all – a pain-free device is used.

Cranial Osteopath in Chelsea, Chelsea Natural Health Clinic, Fulham Rd, SW10
Cranial Osteopathy is also referred to as Cranio-Sacral Osteopathy but we tend to use just Cranial Osteopathy to avoid confusion with Cranio-sacral therapy.
The majority of your body is made up of water (between 60% and 80% depending on your age, sex and body type). Carried by this water are all sorts of things such as oxygen, nutrients and waste products and cells that are crucial to “life”, such as the red and white blood cells. The correct flow of this fluid is essential in keeping the body healthy and vital. If there isn’t enough fluid moving into an area it won’t get the oxygen and food that it needs to survive. If there isn’t enough fluid moving away from an area, toxins will build up and the area will become inflamed. Cranial Osteopathy is a technique that studies and aims to correct any disturbance in this fluid flow. We believe that the flow of this life-giving fluid around the body is the most important factor in life and as such we refer to it as the primary respiratory axis. The fluid passes as a wave up and down the body between (on average) 14-21 times a minute and can be felt by a trained hand. It is very similar to feeling a persons pulse at their wrist but the flow is much more subtle than that so very gentle touch and pressure is used. As the fluid moves up and down the body it gentle pushes on the tissues and bones of the body causing them to move, just like a wave will cause a boat to bob up and down in the sea. The state of the tissues of the body will determine how the fluid will flow. If the tissues are tight or twisted the fluid will find it harder to move through the area. As seen above, poor fluid flow will result in an area starting to suffer, and this can be the seat of tissue damage, of poor tissue healing and of disease.
The technique is called Cranio-sacral Osteopathy since we see the body as essentially being “slung” between the head (the cranium) and the pelvis (a part of which is a bone called the sacrum). All bone is plastic in nature, it has flexibility due to its high water content. The joints of the skull aren’t fixed solid, they allow for a small amount of movement. As the fluid moves up into the head it causes a very subtle movement in the skull, just as it does in the pelvis and the rest of the body. If the head and/or the pelvis are restricted this can hugely affect the fluid flow around the body, and thus the person’s health. Imagine that your body is a skipping rope and that your head and pelvis are the handles and your body is the rope. If you put the rope on the ground with the handles too close together the rope would lie twisted limply on the ground. If you pulled on the handles hard, the rope would straighten, become too tight and then snap. Much better to have the handles just the right distance apart so that the rope is nice and straight but not over-tight. We often talk of the skull being a plastic ball to which a pump has been attached. If the pressure in the ball is increased it will expand. If you then let the pressure out of the ball it will re-coil and contract under its own elasticity/plasticity. The amount of expansion/contraction in the ball will depend on the pressure change and the plasticity of the ball. The greater the pressure and the softer the plastic, the more movement! From this you can see that if the skull is tight due to mechanics restrictions, or the fluid drive is poor the movement in the skull will be impaired. A Cranial Osteopath can feel this change.
SOME EXAMPLES OF WHY IT’S NEEDED
The birth process is extremely physical, both for the mother and the child.
The baby is squashed into the womb for many months then squeezed through the birth canal.
The bones of the skull are designed to fold over each other during the birth process to make the head smaller, and thus easier to deliver.
During the birth process the descending baby should push the mothers’ sacrum (the triangular bone at the back of the pelvis) out of the way, thus making much more room for itself to pass. However, birthing techniques that involve the mother either lying or sitting on her back and buttocks create issues since the sacrum has nowhere to go, it can’t get out of the way since the mother is sat on it. In this situation the birth canal is smaller than it could be. This can lead to longer labours and the increased interventions such as forceps and ventouse (vacuum pump). The increase in pressure due the smaller birth canal, the longer labour and any medical aids will have an affect on the baby, particularly the skull, jamming up the joints and stretching tissues. These compressions and stretches can form the tensions that later go onto cause mechanical problems (in the skull and pelvis especially). This is not to say that active birthing positions (standing, kneeling, squatting etc) prevent problems but they do help reduce the forces placed on the baby. Babies delivered by C-section are still exposed to a lot of force, especially if they are an emergency C-section due to them getting stuck. In this case the uterus is still contracting very hard trying to push the baby out, but since it’s trapped all the force of the contractions is squashing the baby up against its head. If they are then delivered by C-section they miss out on what we see to be a “corrective” part of delivery. Once the baby’s head has been delivered but the rest of the baby is still in the birth canal the head is essentially popped back out into shape (it’s a very gradual process but this is the point in time where we think it gets a kick-start). This is because the head is no longer being compressed but the rest of the body is. This causes fluid to move to head increasing the pressure in the head and balloons it out from its compressed “state” (remember that the bones overlap in the birth canal). Think of it as squeezing a toothpaste round in its tube. Crying and suckling are both seen as corrective forces since they pump the bones of the head and wiggle them free. It is thought that babies that cry or suckle a lot are often instinctively trying to free of jammed skull joints. Since all babies are squashed in the womb and thus exposed to forces Cranial osteopaths recommend that every baby should at lease have a check-up.
More recently there has been a move towards using what are effectively miniature cycling helmets on babies to correct physical deformities in the shape of baby’s heads. These deformities typically can develop as part of the birth process or due to the baby resting his or her head on the same side as they sleep. This can cause a flattening, typically on the back right hand side of the head. This condition is referred to in several different ways such as posterior plagiocephaly, nonsynostotic occipital plagiocephaly or posterior positional plagiocephaly, though it is often referred to as positional skull flattening as this is more understandable.
HOW WE DO IT
By knowing how things should be moving we can work out where there is tension, and once we know this we can use very gentle forces to re-align and balance the tissues. This will allow the body to “un-wind” and settle, and for healing to take place. Restoring the correct fluid flow to an area will improve its health and vitality.
Ideally from a Cranial point of view, all babies should be treated as soon as possible after birth on a prophylactic basis, even if they appear outwardly “in shape”. This is because they all, even the caesareans, will have been exposed to some degree of force. No single skull and pelvis is prefect after birth that is not possible. Neither will treatment make any skull or pelvis perfect, but it can so often help restore a degree of normality to the balance of the tissues.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy in Chelsea at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic, SW10, Fulham road
Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) is an exceptionally gentle yet extremely powerful therapy in which the primary aim is to create and maintain a healthy and balanced state on all levels. In doing this CST can eliminate symptoms and their underlying causes, and can enable profoundly effective treatment of a wide range of conditions – from simple aches and pains to the most complex, chronic or persistent problems.
CST can be used for all ages, from new born babies to the elderly.
THE TREATMENT
CST involves a very gentle touch of the practitioners hands, both for diagnosis and for treatment. This light contact may be taken up on the Cranium (head), the Sacrum (tailbone) or any other part of the body as appropriate. Through this contact twists and tensions which may be distorting or restricting the normal symmetrical rhythmic motion of the Cranio-Sacral system. These distortions are inevitably a reflection of disturbances to our health. This interaction between the practitioners hands and the clients body can elicit a therapeutic response from the subtle mechanisms deep within the body which make up the Cranio-Sacral System.
The body has a natural desire to promote and maintain health, and to counteract disease and infection. Healthy function is however dependent on the free, unrestricted mobility of all body tissues and fluids. Any interference with this free mobility will lead to congestion, blockage and stagnation, and so to the build up of disease and dysfunction.
The Cranio-Sacral therapist aims to identify and release any restrictions in the body and so to restore the free flow of vitality and normal healthy function to every part of the body and to the person as a whole.
THE BENEFITS
CST may be of benefit in almost any circumstances, including:
- BABIES – may help them become more relaxedand settled.
- CHILDREN – for the many knocks and falls that happen.
- ADULTS – a range of conditions from headaches, muscular and skeletal problems, emotional tensions, and the after effects of major illnesses, accidents and surgery.
- ELDERLY – to iron out the effects of a lifetime of stresses and strains, injuries and illnesses, and to create a more comfortable state with less need for medications and their unpleasant side effects.
- EVERYONE – who wishes to improve their underlying state of health and well being, and to create a greater sense of ease, clarity and health in their life.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), often referred to simply as “Tapping”, is an alternative therapy that combines Modern Psychology with Ancient Chinese Acupressure. It is a practical self-help tool that involves the tapping on acupuncture points, whilst simultaneously bringing to mind targeted psychological or physical issues. Studies have shown EFT to be effective in treating stress, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, addictions, physical pain and many other issues.
The theory behind EFT is that most physical, mental or emotional illnesses are caused by a disruption in the flow of energy as it travels through channels in the body, known as meridians. This disruption is generally caused by disturbing experiences or traumas, big or small, conscious or unconscious. EFT can help to rebalance the flow of energy, calm our nervous system and bring our body and mind into harmony. It can also be used to release limiting beliefs and negative habitual patterns, improve the sense of self worth and help with weight loss and sports performance.
EFT treatment involves the use of fingertips rather than needles to tap on the end points of energy meridians that are situated just beneath the surface of the skin, mostly those around the face and upper body. The treatment is non-invasive and works on the ethos of making change as simple and pain free as possible.
It is useful to learn the basic technique with a practitioner, but once familiar with it, it is a great self-help tool that is empowering and can be used anytime.
EFT first came to prominence in the 1990s when developer Gary Craig published information about the therapy on his website.
There have been relatively few studies on EFT, but the body of research has grown in recent years and can be found on EFT International’s website covering areas such as:
- Addiction
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Pain and Physical conditions
- PTSD & Trauma
- Phobias
- Stress
- Weight loss
At Chelsea Natural Health we have two practitioners that practice EFT. Micki Rogers and Adriana Pop. Please follow the links to their pages for more information.

Health Coaching in Chelsea with Simon Heale at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic
Become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself.
What is Health Coaching
Health coaching is a blended form of coaching that incorporates coaching and mentoring to inspire and assist coachees in reaching their health and wellness goals
Clients approach Health Coaches when their health is deteriorating – when they feel exhausted, are gaining weight and finding it harder to lose, are going through menopause, experiencing hypertension, poor sleep, low mood or are pre-diabetic – the list goes on.
How can a health coach change your life?
Health Coaches can coach clients on anything that will improve their overall physical and emotional health and wellbeing, Health Coaches can also set fun challenges with their clients turning what has traditionally been seen as a restrictive and boring ‘should-be-healthier’ process, into a life changing, fun and exciting experience, measuring and celebrating all successes along the way.
- Improve your diet
- Help you cut back on sugar and stimulants,
- Improve sleep and reduce stress
- Create a new exercise and fitness routine you can finally enjoy
- Organise time with a default diary to create all important ‘me’ time
- Create strategies to improve feelings of wellbeing and happiness
- Weight loss, management and weight gain
- Reduce pain and symptoms
- Increase confidence, find a new life purpose and much more.
Creating a new healthy life plan
With a Health Coach, clients create a brand new vision of health and wellbeing for their lives and a redefined set of health values; a Health Coach will then support them to overcome barriers and limiting beliefs and invent a personalised health strategy that they not only follow with ease, but love following too.
Take weight loss as an example – studies show that up to 95% of people regain the weight they have lost and often gain more. Some studies have also shown that only 50% of heart disease patients are successful in making the right changes to protect their health.
Why do people need health coaches?
Perhaps you have made New Year’s resolutions to improve your health and get fitter and found, like 85% of us, that your motivation wanes after 3 weeks.
It can be difficult to change the way we eat and live our lives – we have so many deeply ingrained habits that can be hard to break.
A Health Coach works alongside clients to re-think the way they live and create a new set of lifestyle habits underpinned by a clear vision for health and wellness.
Health Coaches then provide the support and accountability to achieve them, overcoming barriers and challenges along the way.
Barriers to changing our health can include a lack of time, no motivation, an environment that doesn’t support the changes we want to make, unresolved physical issues, tiredness getting in the way of a desire to exercise, following the wrong nutrition plan for us and more – whatever the barriers to living life healthy and well, a Health Coach is there to get to the heart of them and work with clients to overcome them. Clients are then able to find the right health strategy and maintain their motivation to live life optimally well.

Herbal Medicine in Chelsea with
Charles Powell & Khalda Mohammed at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic
Herbal remedies have a therapeutic action that is gentle and restorative, and very well suited to children. In addition to easing specific symptoms, they enhance the body’s own natural healing capacity. Made from plants whose medicinal properties can be traced to the presence of various pharmacologically active ingredients, herbs work in harmony with the body.
We have found that children whose immune systems have been compromised by antibiotics will often present with eczema, hayfever, asthma, IBS and other illnesses By treating them gently and holistically, health can be restored often where symptoms have been continuous, sometimes for years. Similarly, children suffering from allergies or intolerances can find relief through herbs, says Medical Herbalist, Charles Powell.
Whilst the benefits of herbs, including Thyme, Sage and Rosemary, all of which are strongly antiseptic, can be used in cooking and salads, when it comes to herbal remedies (infusions, tinctures, salves, etc) only the gentlest, most tried-and-tested ones are recommended for children.
What kind of conditions is it useful for?
Herbal medicine can help treat and even prevent many childhood conditions.
Chamomile or Lemon Balm helps to ensure a good nights sleep
Raspberry Leaves soothes digestive problems, diarrhoea, stomach upsets and sore throats in young children
Echinacea treats colds and flu
Elderberry for coughs, colds & flu
Fennel or Dill soothes colic
Calendula helps sooth cuts and scrapes
‘How does it work on my child?’
Whilst you can treat your child to some extent, with herbs, at home, a consultation with a medical herbalist will include a full medical history, and an examination if necessary. The herbalist will then treat your child as a whole person, addressing the underlying cause of symptoms. A qualified herbalist will also be aware of the appropriate herbs and doses for your child in order to avoid any possible toxicity.

Massage at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic
A new EFT technique to change your relationship to your past and dramatically transform your physical and emotional health in the present
Matrix Re-imprinting has some important enhancements to EFT. For example, with conventional EFT tapping on meridian end points is used to take the emotional intensity out of a past memory. What this produces is the ability to recall previously traumatic and stressful life memories without any emotional disruption or stress, which is obviously extremely useful, because negative past memories keep the body in a state of stress and can contribute to disease. With Matrix Re-imprinting, the memory is also transformed – you can go into any past memory and say and do what you wished you’d said and done, bring in new resources and create and transform the picture you have of that memory.
Matrix Reimprinting considers these negative past memories to be held as pictures or holograms in your body’s energy field. Until you transform them you keep tuning into them at a subconscious level, affecting your health, your wellbeing and your point of attraction. Changing the pictures creates both physical and emotional healing and enables you to attract more positive experiences into your life.

NADA Ear Acupuncture at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic with Adriana Pop
NADA protocol involves the gentle insertion of up to five fine, single use, sterilised, stainless steel disposable needles into specific energetic points in the outer ear.
The five ear points:
(1) Sympathetic – calms the nervous system and helps with overall relaxation.
(2) Shen Men / “Spirit Gate” – reduces anxiety and nervousness.
(3) Kidney Point – for calming fears and healing internal organs.
(4) Liver Point – for detoxification, blood purification, and to quell aggression.
(5) Lung Point – promotes aeration and helps clients let go of grief.
The outer ear acts like a switchboard that sends impulses to the brain, which stimulate the release of endorphins, lowers stress and induces relaxation.
The NADA-system is most suited to group settings. An NADA Practitioner will insert up to five needles in each ear for up to 45 minutes while clients sit in a relaxed atmosphere. During this time the client may fall asleep, experience a meditative state or just feel calm and relaxed.
ln the 1970’s the NADA protocol was developed to help addicts with their recovery dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, irritability and cravings. Since then NADA protocol has been found effective for a wide range of conditions.
The NADA protocol works best when used in combination within a comprehensive treatment programme that offers other therapeutic elements.
Adriana offers NADA Ear Acupuncture on Saturdays
Here at Chelsea Natural Health we have a Registered Osteopath, Philip Waldman.
Osteopaths believe passionately in nature’s ability to know best. Having taken an overall view of a person and their environment to build as complete an understanding of any issues present as possible, we aim to facilitate the body’s attempts to heal itself.
This can be achieved in many ways, such as working with the tissues of the body using mechanical techniques such as stretching, muscle work and mobilisation of the joints. Whether it be a bad back or more general health complaint we aim to support the body’s in-built healing mechanisms to resolve the state of dis-ease. We complement this approach with exercises, advice on things like diet and lifestyle. The aim is to help restore the person to health and vitality.
What can Osteopathy treat?
Well, due to rules put in place by the Advertising Standards Agency, there is only a short list of conditions we can claim to be able to treat. And that list is..
- generalised aches and pains
- joint pains including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis as an adjunct to core OA treatments and exercise
- arthritic pain
- general, acute & chronic backache, back pain (not arising from injury or accident)
- uncomplicated mechanical neck pain (as opposed to neck pain following injury i.e. whiplash)
- headache arising from the neck (cervicogenic) / migraine prevention
- frozen shoulder/ shoulder and elbow pain/ tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) arising from associated musculoskeletal conditions of the back and neck, but not isolated occurrences
- circulatory problems, cramp
- digestion problems
- joint pains
- lumbago
- sciatica
- muscle spasms
- neuralgia
- fibromyalgia
- inability to relax
- rheumatic pain
- minor sports injuries and tensions.
Please follow the links for more information on these individual complaints.
Osteopaths have governing principles that represent their belief in the way in which the body functions.
They are: Principle Short definition “The rule of the artery is supreme” blood supply is the most important factor in health more? “Structure governs function” the shape of the (ie) joint dictates the way it works more? “The body is a unit” no one part of the body functions alone, all are connected. more? “The body contains all the mechanisms required for self-repair” given the chance the body will be able to heal itself more? Osteopaths use a variety of techniques, such as massage and joint manipulation to correct joint function. In the case of spinal joints, improving joint function releases the nerves and thus improves the function of the structures, such as organs and muscles, supplied by the nerves. Focus on Osteopathy ‘Sebastian Coe wrote in an article, for the Observer Magazine, that if John McEnroe hadn’t introduced him to Osteopathy, he wouldn’t have made it to the Olympics.’ Osteopathic medicine, founded well over a hundred years ago, understands that if your bones, muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons are in all good structural balance, then your nervous system, circulation and therefore your whole body will function well. Osteopathic treatment does not target the symptoms only (although this is the basis of short term pain relief) but treats the underlying, abnormal structural pattern that has resulted in the symptoms in the first place. In Britain, complementary medicine is defined as a group of diverse medical approaches, using non-surgical and non-pharmaceutical techniques to treat disease. Osteopaths are under the same rigorous government regulations as doctors, and have the same diagnostic responsibilities as a doctor- and therefore sit somewhere between conventional and complementary, and are probably best termed Primary Health Care Physicians. In 1993 Osteopathy became the first complementary health care profession to obtain statutory recognition. This means it is a criminal offence to use the title without proper training and that the Osteopath is bound by a similar responsibility for their patients’ welfare as a medical doctor. Practitioners Location Osteopathic training is a four under-graduate degree course, similar in structure to the medical degree. More emphasis is based on anatomy and musculo-skeletal medicine but training does include x-ray and MRI diagnosis, orthopaedics and pharmacology, alongside several thousand hours training in osteopathic techniques on both students and ‘real’ patients. The UK is the only country in the world that decided it would not take the title ‘doctor’. This was purely a decision by the governing body. Millions of people visit their GP every year with some 70% complaining of musculo-skeletal related problems. These might consist of, neck; back; wrist; joint; sciatic or arthritic pain whiplash injuries; headaches (including migraine type pain); pelvic dysfunction and sports injuries which are all conditions seen regularly by Osteopaths. Last year, more than 10 million patients were seen by Osteopaths and many thousands of hours were lost due to back pain alone. Osteopaths use a wide range of techniques, from massage to joint manipulation, cranial osteopathy, exercise rehabilitation, dietary advice, ergonomics and self-management. Their patients range from the newly-born to the elderly and include such diverse groups as pregnant women and athletes. Excerpts taken from Osteopathic Medicine by Gavin Burt. Pilates in Chelsea with Simon Heale and Sophie Corcoran at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic
What is Pilates?
The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed by Joseph H. Pilates over 90 years ago. It tones and strengthens muscles, improves posture, helps to increase flexibility and balance, uniting body and mind.
It was designed to work directly with the deepest muscles in the body creating a strong core without the pain associated with some conventional exercising, stretching your muscles as you strengthen them, without impact on the joints or exhausting your muscles beyond effectiveness.
How does pilates work?
The Pilates method teaches thoracic breathing whereby you breathe laterally to avoid expanding the abdomen. The aim is then to use the thoracic and back muscles to expand the ribcage sideways and make room for the lungs to expand. This enables the abdomen to stay pulled down and strong to avoid leaving the lower back unsupported and therefore unprotected.
This deep, controlled breathing can also help relieve stress and cleanse the bloodstream, expelling stale air and replenishing your body with fresh air.
In Pilates, learning to control the pelvic floor muscles is also critical in creating internal core stabilisation.
The benefits
Pilates can help to re-teach the body correct form, breaking bad habits, reaping the benefits of better posture, suppleness, abdominal strength and a general feeling of well-being.
It can help alleviate lower back pain, knee pain and neck pain. Increased lung capacity and circulation through deep, healthy breathing is a primary focus.
Movements are performed with a natural flow and rhythm while still requiring strength and concentration. Pilates teaches balance and control of the body, and that capacity spills over into other areas of one’s life.

Reiki at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic
What is reiki?
Reiki, pronounced ‘RAY- KEE ‘, is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force, an energy which is all around us and within every living organism.
Reiki is a unique healing system. It is nature. It is a hands-on healing therapy involving the channelling of subtle energy, or chi, via the practitioners hands into the recipient
Reiki can…
- heal on all levels: Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Emotional
- relieve muscle spasms, pain, stress and tension
- release emotional blockages, leading to resolution of past and present issues
- encourage you to take responsibility for your own health and wellness
- increase energy and vitality.
- cleanse the body of toxins and stimulate the immune system.
- accelerate the natural healing process by harmonising the body’s energies
- enhance the beneficial effects of all other therapies and meditation
- enhance your creative, intuitive and intellectual abilities
- restore the whole person to a state of harmony and balance
- release energy and promote a state of total relaxation
- generate powerful inner calm and strength
Where does reiki comes from?
Reiki is the name given to a unique system of natural healing which evolved in the mid 19th century from the experience and dedication of a Japanese Christian, Dr Mikao Usui. He embarked upon a journey to discover the healing method of Christ. This led him to a Zen monastery in Japan, where he was shown some ancient Sanskrit sutras, or texts, and after years of study and meditation, they revealed to him this long forgotten healing system.
He spent the rest of his life practising this healing art and eventually agreed to pass on his knowledge and sacred healing symbols. Today through the Usui lineage, Reiki is passed on by Reiki Masters to the student in two levels.
How does reiki work?
The Reiki practitioner is a channel or conduit for the energy to pass through into the recipient. The Reiki energy will work on the areas in most need first, which may not be the presenting complaint, restoring imbalances and blockages in the various levels of energies and chakras.
Reiki healing is a non-invasive, gentle healing treatment.
What will I feel?
The most common feeling is that of an intense warmth and heat emanating from the practitioners’ hands.
A Reiki treatment will leave you with a feeling of being in a powerful and serene ‘cocoon’ of energy. This cocoon is a state of total balance, a lightness, as if all the ‘stuff’ we burden ourselves with daily had been lifted from you.
Emotional surges may occur, as and when issues need to be released, recognised and resolved.
How does reiki heal?
By balancing out the various energy bodies, this creates a space of internal silence, free from all the stress we place on our minds and bodies, allowing the mind to do what it does best, to provide healing nutrients to those parts of the body that need it most. Reiki healing allows the mind, body and spirit to regenerate their natural healing potential, free from the debilitating ‘noise’ of everyday life.
Reiki healing works on all levels of being, physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual, according to your individual needs and what is best for your ‘higher good’. Reiki will stimulate the body’s natural healing ability. Reiki can help with the recognition and resolution of past ‘issues’ or unfinished business which are present as energy ‘blockages’, manifesting in the physical realm as pain, illness, and dis-ease.
It is this energy which is allowing your body, mind and spirit to be rejuvenated and healed, it is pure spirit, it is surrendering to a higher consciousness, it is acceptance, it is unconditional love.
Will I need faith?
Reiki is not a faith or belief healing system and requires only that the recipient trusts and does nothing except accept whatever may occur during the session in either thoughts, sensations or emotions.
The treatment
Sessions are usually an hour in length.
The procedure is simple: the recipient lies on a couch, fully clothed, while the practitioner gently places their hands in a sequence of positions from head Âto-toe, on or just above the body. The sequence generally corresponds to the major organs, endocrine glands and the Chakras, or major energy centres.
The treatment is so gentle that the recipient will usually fall into a deep state of relaxation and may even fall asleep.
The benefits
Reiki supports both orthodox and complementary medicine and will even enhance the healing work implemented by these therapies.
Reiki is not a faith or belief healing system, it is a simple transfer of energy, based on trust and surrendering to a higher will.
With Reiki it is possible to help acute injuries to heal quicker, however more chronic conditions or illness may take longer. Regular Reiki treatments will start to shift these ‘blocks’ allowing self-healing and resolution on all levels to take place. A Reiki treatment will lead to a greater feeling of inner calm, strength and fortitude.
Reiki can help the body reduce and eliminate pain, fight acute and chronic illness and will relieve stress and anxiety, leading to a deeper sense of calm and balance, deeper than you would ever have experienced before with any other therapy.
Learning reiki
Reiki is taught by a Reiki Master in two stages, with ideally, at least a six month gap between the two. Students can then decide whether to proceed with the final Master sections.

Sports Massage Therapy in Chelsea at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic
Sports massage therapy helps alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues as a result of physical activity.
Where minor injuries or lesions occur, due to overexertion / overuse, massage can break them down. Above all, it can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement whatever you level of involvement in sport.
Anyone can benefit from sports massage, such as people in physically demanding jobs and those not quite so obvious occupational, emotional and postural stresses that affect us all. It is based on the various elements of Swedish massage and often incorporates a combination of other techniques involving stretching, compression, friction, toning, and trigger point response techniques similar to Acupressure and Shiatsu and tends to be deeper and more intense. The skilled therapist brings together this blend of techniques, knowledge and advice during treatment, to work effectively with the client to bring about optimum performance and to provide injury free training and minimise post event injuries.
You can avoid and treat typical running related injuries such as Runners Knee, Achilles Tendonitis, Gluteal and hip pain through regular massage, guided stretching, foam rolling and correct training scheduling.
Simon Heale is currently treating marathoners and ultra-marathoners using Sports Massage, Acupuncture, Hypnotherapy, K-Tape and general common sense advice.
For runners Simon’s advice is to have a massage the day or a few days after your longest run or if you have niggles then before your heaviest session.
You want to get to the line, to the start, so there is no point knackering yourself in training, or running your best run a month before the start. Simon can get you to the line in a physically ready and mentally sharp condition.
Simon has run 8 London Marathons as well as several other big city races, including the Two Oceans Ultra-Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa. He has just returned from running the 56 mile Comrades Marathon in South Africa on 1st June 2014. His extensive knowledge of running injuries, training preparation and maintenance tips will insure you train effectively and healthily.
