This is when we need to take some time to explore our inner issues in order to manage the challenges and blockages that manifest in our daily life.
In psychotherapy, we endeavour to make conscious what is not, as a way to alleviate our suffering.
Whatever your motivation, it will take courage to attend and dedication to see things through. So going into therapy is not an admission of weakness but a courageous decision.
After an initial assessment, (during which I will gather some information from you, and you will see how you feel about working with me), we will decide if this is the right setting for you. There is no obligation to proceed on your part, and if on my part I feel I am not the best person for you , I will let you know and endeavour to sign post you to the right person or agency .
If we decide to work together, I would then suggest an initial course of 6 sessions. Sometimes this is enough, sometimes people need longer term work. We will go with the flow.
My commitment to you is to provide a supporting and objective presence at a time when you are experience some emotional suffering. We will work collaboratively, in order to empower you to find solutions.
As the most important of psychotherapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist, it is only fair that I tell you a little bit about myself.
