Acupressure

Acupressure massage works by applying pressure instead of needles on the energy points that can be found all along the meridians or energy lines of the body. Applying pressure on these points removes energy blockages by diffusing the toxic build up that accumulates in the muscle tissues. The accumulation of toxins causes stiffness throughout the body which puts abnormal pressure on nerves and blood and lymph vessels. Benefits of Acupressure massage are:

  • Alleviates muscular tension found in the neck and shoulders caused by long hours at the computer.
  • Relief from Backache, Repetitive strain injury and Accumulated tension
  • Stimulates endorphins, the body’s natural feel good chemicals.
  • Helps to boost the immune and circulatory systems
  • Helps to relieve stress and tension headaches and the effects of eye strain

Acupuncture

Acupuncture, which originated in China, is a way of adjusting the body’s “life energy” (Qi) flow. It involves insertion of fine needles into carefully selected points along the energetic pathways or meridians of the body. Points are selected on the basis of pulse and tongue diagnosis, observation and questioning. Needles are inserted into points and then manipulated gently to stimulate energy flow and remove any blockages.

Acupuncture is used for relief of ailments, for pain conditions, in infertility treatment, for digestive problems, for anxiety and depression, for prevention of disease, health promotion, anaesthesia for some symptoms of pregnancy and childbirth among other conditions.

Allergy Testing

Allergy testing is used to find the causes of many problems such as asthma, irritable bowel syndrome and skin irritations. An allergy is a response by the body’s immune system and will be felt almost instantly. A hypersensitivity is a reaction where the body does not enjoy the substance and may take longer to show up. Sneezing, eczema, diarrhoea are all common reactions to a sensitivity. In today’s toxic world we are exposed to more and more substances which can create irritation and disease within our bodies.

If you would like to know what may be causing some of your health problems then book a session with Charles Powell, Cecilia Linares and  Dr Janeth Romero for them to explain what is involved or contact them using the form above.

Ante / Post Natal Care

The main function of Hypnosis for Childbirth is to reduce the levels of anxiety present during pregnancy and to teach both mother and father the skills to recognise the presence of fear and stress and how to deal with it, easily and effectively. It is about reaching a state of deep relaxation and maintaining perception of control over the process. It is about changing the expectation of birth for both the mother and birth partner, training both to go into labour and birth feeling calm, confident and in control.

The core strategies taught during any hypnosis for childbirth training would be:

  • Beneficial Breathwork
  • Appropriate and situation/birth process specific visualization
  • Specific pain relief and control techniques
  • Reframing and stress relieving cognitive processes

Body – Memory Therapy

Body-Memory Therapy works with the cellular memory of the body and the primal, limbic part of the brain. Based on the principal that all life experiences are held in the body, it uses simple dialogue and bodywork to clear complaints of mental, emotional or physical origin and reprogramme the body. Illness is often a language and the technique allows the voice behind the complaint to be heard, giving the symptoms no reason to persist. The ‘release and re-programming’ technique enables the body and mind to return to original health.

Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial Osteopathy is also referred to as Cranio-Sacral Osteopathy but we tend to use just Cranial Osteopathy to avoid confusion with Cranio-sacral therapy. The majority of your body is made up of water (between 60% and 80% depending on your age, sex and body type). Carried by this water are all sorts of things such as oxygen, nutrients and waste products and cells that are crucial to “life”, such as the red and white blood cells. The correct flow of this fluid is essential in keeping the body healthy and vital. Tissue tightness and trauma can inhibit the flow of this fluid. Cranial osteopaths use very gentle techniques to correct any disturbance in this fluid-flow

Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) is an exceptionally gentle yet extremely powerful therapy in which the primary aim is to create and maintain a healthy and balanced state on all levels. In doing this CST can eliminate symptoms and their underlying causes, and can enable profoundly effective treatment of a wide range of conditions – from simple aches and pains to the most complex, chronic or persistent problems.

CST can be used for all ages, from new born babies to the elderly.

Counselling

Humanistic Counselling views the person as full of potential for growth. Respecting individual’s uniqueness and value of their experience. An approach that believes everyone has an inbuilt capacity to grow and achieve their full potential. It encourages a person to be more self-accepting, to recognise and integrate all aspects of their nature. Hence, it is a holistic approach, where the body, mind and spirit are recognised as dimensions of a person’s whole being. The counsellor can support the person to access their own personal power and become more autonomous, and confident in themselves. Counselling offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore emotional difficulties and gain greater clarity and insight.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is an effective system of healing which assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. It recognises that symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person and that it is the patient who needs treatment not just the disease.

Homeopathic remedies are drawn from the natural world and prescribed on the principle of treating like with like or the way of similars.

Hypnotherapy

As a hypnotherapist and performance coach I see people who are wanting to make changes in their lives. These can range from getting a better work-life balance, dealing with debilitating anxiety and stress, to changing habitual behaviours such as smoking and of course the area of weight loss.

Indian Head Massage

The aim of Indian head Massage is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscle and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. These areas are massaged using firm yet gentle rhythmic movements that involve acupressure points called Marma points. The experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving you feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a manual medicine that uses the body’s innate intelligence to help understand any chemical, nutritional, emotional or muscular imbalances in the body. It views the body from physical, emotional and chemical interactions that may be influencing the person’s state of health. Kinesiology is an all encompassing therapy that covers any condition or ailment.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal remedies have a therapeutic action that is gentle and restorative, and very well suited to children. In addition to easing specific symptoms, they enhance the bod’s own natural healing capacity. Made from plants whose medicinal properties can be traced to the presence of various pharmacologically active ingredients, herbs work in harmony with the body.

Mindfullness

Mindfulness means simply ‘Paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment with qualities such as gentleness, curiosity and non-judgment. Learning to be mindful means living less in an auto-pilot, reactive mode and more in a responsive and aware state of mind and presence.

Mindfulness is increasingly being employed throughout the medical and mental health fields as the standard method to deal with depression, anxiety and stress. Rather than over-medicate, learning how to notice what is present (emotions, thoughts and feelings), to give it space and respond with freedom rather than in an automatic, reactive way: this is how mindfulness can enrich your day-to-day life..

Naturopathy

In Naturopathy the body is seen as a triad of health with physical, nutritional and emotional influences all having an impact on the cause or continuation of disease. Any healing process requires vitality (energy) and tools (nutrients) to complete the task. As a self healing mechanism the body must have support in its attempt to get back to health. Detoxification, improved nutritional status, balance to the physical structure, as well as balance to the mind can all improve functions within the body. This is quite different from the “quick fix” culture we have today to alleviate symptoms.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional therapy helps people to improve and maintain their health and sense of well-being through advice on diet and nutrition. Better nutrition helps the body heal itself more quickly and helps prevent disease processes getting started in the first place. if you would like more information please feel free to contact our Nutritional Therapists using the form above.

NLP

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and patterning.

We are constantly in contact with the external world through our five senses: sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. Our neurology takes these external stimuli and presents them to us with a matching set of internal representations – these form our subjective experience and shape our feelings and emotions. We are constantly having conversations, dialogues and arguments with ourselves and it is this internal dialogue which helps us to decide how we feel about situations, experiences and those people around us.
NLP can be used for many problems including:- Setting personal and professional goals- Weight loss- Performing at your best- Overcoming phobias- Improving your confidence- Boosting self esteem

Life Coaching

Coaching is a communication-method of providing an individual with structured, impartial support to implement specific strategies towards setting well-defined goals. With coaching, you can re-connect with your core values and needs. You can gradually feel more at ease, think better, feel more secure and take charge of your life.

Coaching is not therapy: it does not dwell on past mistakes or behaviours. Instead, it is forward-looking, inspiring you to draw on your natural strengths.

Osteopathy

Osteopathic medicine, founded well over a hundred years ago, understands that if your bones, muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons are in all good structural balance, then your nervous system, circulation and therefore your whole body will function well. Osteopathic treatment does not target the symptoms only (although this is the basis of short term pain relief) but treats the underlying, abnormal structural pattern that has resulted in the symptoms in the first place.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient healing art about 5000 Years old. Reflexology has developed into a proper healing technique only 100 years ago. It is a natural and simple therapy which helps your body to heal itself. To stimulate your body, I apply pressure to reflex areas of the feet or hands which correspond to all parts, glands and organs of your body. This brings your body into balance and promotes good health.

Reiki

Reiki is a hands on system of energy healing and balancing which works on all levels, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. UNIVERSAL LIFE FORCE (Rei) and ENERGY (Ki) is channelled through the therapist and felt generally as a beautiful heat by the recipient, resulting in a profound level of calm, peace and balance. The treatment follows the body’s energy centres or chakras which themselves correspond to the organs and glands, either stimulating or sedating the amount of energy in each vital area. Reiki works directly to stimulate the body’s natural healing ability, speeding up recovery from illness or injury, improving energy levels, reducing stress on all levels by improving our sense of responsibility to our health, our lives and others.

Some benefits of Reiki include:

To facilitate and encourage change, various bodywork techniques such as Isometric stretching and muscle testing, connective tissue massage and neuro muscular technique are employed.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu works with the parasympathetic nervous system and, as it works at this depth, many dynamic changes may occur for the receiver of Shiatsu & Japanese bodywork. Patterns of behaviour which are stored in our systems for years, possibly all our lives, can have awareness brought to them.

This form of massage is highly beneficial particularly for anyone suffering from circulatory problems, lack of joint mobility, muscular stiffness and stress.
