How to get the best out of 2010! by Craig Coman, Registered Osteopath, Naturopath, Acupuncturist at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic, Fulham Road, Sw10

2010 – a new decade and new possibilities. Not much chance of a credit crunch, we are already at war and if you’ve survived the swine flu then I reckon your chances are good!  It is interesting all the hype that has been thrown at us in the last year. If it wasn’t the financial demise then it was our health that was going to suffer and yet here you sit reading this. Why would people make up stories? Perhaps there is something to gain? Fear is a great motivator, we all know that, so my advice for this decade or at least the year, is to give fear the boot. Fear creates tension in our body, erosion of our tissues and toxicity in our organs. I would say that fear is the greatest cause of disease to our population. I know we have symptoms and so called causes such as the germ, the virus, the unknown reason for an ailment BUT how did we get to that weak point? Why does it hit some and not others? The swine flu was the greatest threat since that last great flu epidemic that never eventuated to the dizzy heights that were banded around by the experts.

The problem with fear is actually that it shuts us down. My little boy is two and almost fearless. He will talk to anyone, play with anyone, takes his clothes off constantly no matter who is there and is interested in everything on the planet. So if you want to get the best out of 2010 behave like a two year old! Delete the tantrums and wanting to kiss everyone you meet, and the taking clothes off may not work in social circles BUT apart from that, become playful at least once a week. Do something you have never done before or something you have not done for years. Ten pin bowling, skating, talking to a stranger, whatever it is put it in your diary and make sure it happens.

Children have the ability to keep us young by throwing it in our face constantly and the truth is we know it ourselves. Life is about movement and we can all get stagnant. Work, relationships, family, etc they all can get a little too familiar. The exciting thing about kids is you never know what they will come up with next. Doing things the same leads to stagnation and that is the start of disease. Change is what humans require for health and growth and yet it is the one thing we resist the most. Why? Because of fear, nothing else. If that is true, and I urge you to test it out, then fear is the seed of disease.

New decade, new possibilities, your choice!

At Chelsea Natural Health Clinic there are practitioners eager to assist you with that change. I know, I have heard them speak.

Whatever you want this year will require change. Getting help just makes it easier and more fun.

Good luck
